Small Tweaks, Big Impact

As we’ve lived with the play and family rooms for well over a year now, small things have continued to bug me. Several months ago, I moved Lucy’s play kitchen to a different wall, swapped in an arched mirror and even tried out a new rug under the sofa. It was cute, but it wasn’t quite right. I would stand in the bathroom doorway brushing my teeth, looking over these rooms with a thoughtful eye, rearranging things in my mind again and again, but not doing much more than simply thinking about it. Until last week!

Every rug I tried under the family room sofa felt too chaotic next to the play area, and then I landed on The One! This is from the Chris Loves Julia x Loloi newest rug collection, in Chris Ivory/Clay. The colors are subtle and earthy, and the broken stripe gives it a modern touch. Instantly, it was a breath of fresh air.

On the playroom side, I pushed the credenza beneath our unruly (but lovely) Ficus Audrey, also relocating our DIY lion lamp and taking it as an opportunity to mix up the toys between the snug and play room, too. The IKEA play kitchen moved beneath our living wall planter, and her dress up bin went back to its original location – go figure!

Of course this should come as no surprise, but our little budding designer not only noticed the changes and gave us her seal of approval, but she’s been spending so much more time up here now! Sometimes the smallest tweaks can feel like the biggest, best change, breathing new life into our rooms and reminding us that homes are meant to evolve with you.

Jenna’s bathroom stopped me in my scroll! I was instantly transported to a tropical resort. Can you believe that’s an IKEA vanity?

dress | shoes

We attended our first wedding in years a couple weeks ago, and I found the perfect spring, summer and fall shoe. These mules come in endless colors, the block heel keeps them comfortable, they’re under $50, and I can’t wait to dress them down with jeans for a date night! (Got the quilted ivory, too.) I can’t recommend them highly enough! TTS.

We’re in the final stages of planning for our group Trova Trip! If you’d like to be alerted when the package goes on sale, you can enter your email here. I can tell you it’s a week-long getaway someplace tropical. Think: jungles, snorkeling and a whole lot of community building, relaxation AND fun. Stay tuned and sign up here to be notified!

This magic trick popped up in my feed, and I didn’t think twice about hitting the ‘follow’ button. Wow wow wow.
